WHAT ACTUALLY MOVES THE PRICE.

Collector figures are graded almost as much on their packaging and completeness as on the figure. Here is what we check before quoting:

Every accessory accounted for

This is the big one. Hot Toys and Mezco figures ship with alternate hands, portraits, weapons and effect parts. A figure missing two hands and a swap head is worth substantially less than a complete one. Check the tray and the foam inserts before you decide anything is missing.

Box condition

For modern collectibles the box is part of the product, not packaging to be thrown out. Shelf wear, crushed corners, sun-fade and torn plastic sleeves all reduce the number. If you still have the outer brown shipper for a statue, that adds real value.

Exclusive or standard edition

Many of these figures were released in both a standard and an exclusive version, where the exclusive adds a part or an alternate portrait. The two are worth different amounts. We identify which one you have.

Retired and discontinued lines

Once a line goes out of production the secondary market decides the price, and some retired NECA and Hot Toys releases have climbed well above their original retail. We price against current completed sales, not what you paid.

Condition of the figure itself

Joint stress and cracking, paint rubs at contact points, sun-fade and warping from heat. South Florida is hard on figures left on an open shelf — we assess honestly rather than pretending not to see it.

Do you buy Hot Toys and Sideshow figures in Miami?

Does the original box matter for collectible figures?

A great deal. For modern collector-grade figures the box is part of the product rather than disposable packaging. Serious buyers expect it, and shelf wear or a crushed corner is reflected in the price. Keep the outer shipping carton too if you still have it.

What if some accessories are missing?

We still buy the figure, but it does affect the number — accessories are a meaningful part of what these figures are worth. Before you assume something is gone, check under the tray and inside the foam inserts, which is where alternate hands and portraits usually hide.

Do you buy retired NECA and Mezco lines?

Yes, and retired lines are often the most interesting to us. Once production stops the secondary market sets the price, and some discontinued releases are worth well above their original retail. Send photos and we will price against current completed sales.

Is an exclusive version worth more than the standard release?

Usually, yes. Exclusive editions typically add an alternate portrait, an extra accessory or a different base, and collectors pay a premium for them. We check which version you have rather than assuming the standard release — that works in your favor.

Can you pick up a large figure or statue collection in Miami?

Yes, and for boxed collections and statues this is usually the better route. These pieces are bulky, heavy and easy to damage in transit. If you are in the Miami area we can collect in person, which removes the shipping risk entirely.
