Consoles are valued differently from games. Completeness and working condition do most of the work, and the original box does more than almost anything else.

Genesis, Master System, Saturn, Dreamcast and Game Gear. Boxed systems especially.

PLAYSTATION

PS1 through modern. Early fat models and boxed units are worth having looked at.

Game Boy through DS and PSP. Original models, special editions and boxed units.

CONTROLLERS & ACCESSORIES

Original controllers, unusual peripherals, light guns, memory cards and cables.

FAULTY HARDWARE

Non-working consoles still have value for parts and repair. Do not throw them out.

Valuation

WHAT MOVES THE PRICE ON HARDWARE

Consoles are priced on completeness and condition far more than on rarity. These are what we check.

Boxed or loose

The single biggest factor. A console with its original box, inserts and styrofoam can be worth several times the same console loose. If you have the box, that is often the most valuable part of what you are holding.

Working condition

A tested, working console is worth more than an untested one, and considerably more than a known-faulty one. That said, faulty hardware is still worth money for parts and repair — we buy it rather than telling you to bin it.

Model and revision

Early hardware revisions, regional models and special-edition colourways can be worth multiples of the standard version. The differences are usually a model number on the underside. We check.

Completeness

Original controller, power supply, AV cable and any first-party accessories that shipped in the box. A complete system is a different proposition from a bare console.

Yellowing and shell condition

Older grey and white plastics yellow with UV exposure — a real issue in Miami. Cracks, heavy scuffs and missing battery covers all move the number. Sun damage is permanent, so a console stored in a bright room loses value every year it sits there.

Do you buy consoles that do not work?

Yes. Faulty hardware still has value for parts and repair, and it is worth considerably more than the nothing you get from throwing it away. Tell us what you know about the fault rather than guessing — an honest description gets you a fair offer faster than a hopeful one.

Is my console worth more with the original box?

Substantially, yes. A boxed console with its inserts and styrofoam can be worth several times the same console loose. If you still have the box, do not flatten or discard it before getting a quote — it is frequently the most valuable part of the package.

How much is my old console worth?

It depends on the system, whether it is boxed, whether it works and which revision it is. Common loose consoles are modest; boxed systems, early revisions and special editions can be worth a great deal more. Send photos including the underside label and we will price it against completed sales within 24 hours.

Should I clean my console before selling it?

Light dusting is fine. Do not use solvents, bleach or abrasives, and do not attempt to reverse yellowing with chemical treatments — badly done retrobrite lowers value and is obvious to buyers. If in doubt, leave it as it is and let us handle it.

Do you pick up large lots of consoles and games in Miami?

Yes, and for hardware it is usually the better option. Consoles are bulky and awkward to pack safely. We collect in person across Miami-Dade and Broward, which removes the shipping cost and the risk of damage in transit.
